The blepharoplasty (or eye lift) rejuvenates the aging appearance of the upper and lower eyelids. Dr. Alsarraf performs the transconjunctival or “incisionless” lower lid blepharoplasty in most patients because it limits the visibility of skin incisions and is an effective method of addressing the bulging fat and dark circles of the lower lids. The upper lid blepharoplasty is often performed in conjunction with the browlift to correct the aging eyebrow as well as the redundant tissue of the lid itself. Care is taken never to over-do the blepharoplasty procedure, because the removal of too much skin or fat may not yield a natural looking result. Dr. Alsarraf is an expert at achieving a natural looking improvement that rejuvenates the eyes in a consistent and lasting fashion.
The blepharoplasty procedure takes 1/2 to 2 hours and is performed in an out-patient hospital setting or private ambulatory surgery center. No bandages whatsoever are required, cold compresses are used for two days after the surgery, and there is minimal discomfort or bruising. Like the browlift, the blepharoplasty may be performed at the time of the facelift in order to achieve a more uniform and balanced facial rejuvenation.
